Privacy Policy

MomentMap is built so that your places and memories stay yours. This page explains, in plain terms, what the app does and doesn't do with your data.
No account, no server
MomentMap does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide an email address. There is no MomentMap server. Your data is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced privately across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit — the same private-database mechanism Apple provides to any app. Sian Jin, the developer of MomentMap, cannot see, access, or receive your places, photos, notes, or any other content you create in the app.
What the app accesses, and why

What MomentMap stores
MomentMap stores, on your device and in your own private iCloud database:
- Places you save (name, coordinates, and identifier from Apple Maps)
- Collections you create to organize places
- Memories (visits) you record — including any Emotion or Note you add
- References to photos you've attached to a Memory
None of this is linked to your identity in any way MomentMap controls, because MomentMap has no user accounts and no server to link it on. It is stored only in your own private iCloud container, governed by your own Apple ID and Apple's own iCloud privacy terms.
Sharing a Place or Collection
MomentMap lets you deliberately share a Place or a Collection with another person, using iOS's standard Share Sheet or the MomentMap Share Extension. This only happens when you explicitly choose to share — nothing is shared automatically, and only the place information you're sharing (name, coordinates, and the Collection's name/icon) is included. Your personal notes, emotions, and photos attached to that place are never included in a shared Collection.
No tracking, no analytics, no ads
MomentMap does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not track you across other apps or websites. It collects no usage analytics of any kind.
Third-party services
MomentMap uses Apple's MapKit for place search and Apple's CloudKit for sync — both governed by Apple's own privacy policy. If you choose to open a saved place in Google Maps, that action is handled entirely by the Google Maps app or website, governed by Google's privacy policy — MomentMap does not send Google anything before you make that choice.
Children's privacy
MomentMap does not knowingly collect information from children, and since it has no accounts, no server, and no data collection of any kind, no personal information is transmitted to or stored by the developer regardless of the user's age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new "Last updated" date.
